This is a great opportunity for anyone who enjoys working with children and teens and who possess strong communication, leadership and supervisory skills. Learn while helping others and experience popular and interactive school programs first-hand.
There is an average of 30 attendants per classroom.

What kind of skills do I need?
Experience of working with children is certainly an asset but not essential. However, a love for children, plenty of patience and understanding, and enthusiasm is very important.
You do not need formal teaching qualifications or formal teacher training. You do however need a good grasp of the Spanish language and plenty of enthusiasm and confidence.
Your role as a volunteer
You will be volunteering in a classroom environment, which may involve formal teaching, conversation class, singing songs and playing games, helping to the teachers to put order in class, check homework, exams, etc.

Living Homestays
As a grassroots organization, local families participate actively in our programs. Our Peruvian families enjoy opening their homes to volunteers from overseas. Volunteers are accommodated in a single or double bedroom according to availability with a shared and clean bathroom with hot showers. As a guest you will have plenty of opportunities to practice your conversation and comprehension skills with the family. In addition, you will observe and participate in everyday Peruvian life and culture.

Meals
Peruvian families provide guests with three daily meals from Monday to Saturday. On Sundays volunteers can use the kitchen to cook meals.
Cultural tip: Note that the main food in Peru is served at lunch time.

Included What's included in the program fee?
Three meals a day : The program fee covers three daily local meals - breakfast, lunch, and dinner from Monday to Saturday.
Home-stay accommodation: Volunteers will stay with a host family in a single or shared room (depending on availability).
Pick up: With Lima city exception pick up from the bus terminal or the airport is included in all other locations.

Support of local coordinator: From the very beginning to the end of the project, Awaiting Angels coordinator will help volunteers by supporting them and regularly visiting them.
Information Packet: Awaiting Angels offers detailed information on issues that will concern volunteers, such as health, safety, and cultural shock.
Orientation: Upon arrival in your location, participants are met at the airport or bus station and taken to the home of their host family. There you will receive an orientation that will familiarize you with the local area, the Peruvian culture, and your program.
